Tradition and Intellect

Marion Montgomery, one of the country’s preeminent men of letters and a longtime friend of ISI, passed away last week at the age of eighty-six. This prolific writer made some of his finest contributions to ISI’s Modern Age and Intercollegiate Review. In remembrance of Professor Montgomery, we are proud to republish this thoughtful piece he wrote for the Spring 1994 Modern Age.
